Ziggy Kanczukowski - Denmark (1994)

This photograph depicts a quiet, almost frozen in time landscape of a canal near Aarhus, Denmark. Moored boats, in a steady rhythm, trace a line leading towards the horizon. The water – smooth and seemingly still – reflects a world that is as fleeting as the memory of the moment captured in the frame. On the right side, we see a stack of poles, perhaps waiting to be used, perhaps forgotten – it becomes a “punctum”, an element that draws the eye and tears the viewer out of the harmony of the composition.

The photograph carries the weight of history – both the one told by the place and the one related to its technique. The scan of a silver negative that disappeared makes this image almost an archaeological testimony, printed on paper. Despite the lack of clarity regarding the printing technique, the photograph exudes authenticity, offering a space for contemplation. It is not only an image of a place, but also a record of emotions, fleeting light, quiet life. It puts the viewer in a state of arrest, opening the door to a past that we can no longer touch, but which we can still see.

I am attaching a certificate of authenticity to the photograph, which confirms its unique character and collector's value. This is a work that not only decorates the space, but also constitutes a testimony of past moments, preserved in the form of an artistic record.
